We’re continuing on with this time-traveling series, going all the way back to 1979 to hear the thoughts of George Lucas about the sequel to Star Wars, and the whole process of going from his vision to high-flying reality. These come from the book Once Upon a Galaxy: The Making of The Empire Strikes Back, by Alan Arnold. It’s the production journal of the press agent working for Lucasfilm during Empire, and since it takes place in the times before everyone was hyper-aware of the public image and personas they were creating, there’s an honesty and freshness here that’s very rare in our world now.
Today’s set of questions continues the theme of control and translating his vision to the other professionals creating the movie reality, as well as a brief meditation on the importance of attention to detail in the Star Wars universe – an endeavor that’s fraught with more danger than you’d expect!
