So, if you know people who’ve been living in caves, or you have sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews with whom to share the movies for the first time, in what order do you share the Star Wars movies?
Personally, I’m a Classic-Trilogy-First kind of guy, because for me, going in episode order seems to raise questions that take me out of the movie. Especially when Vader captures Princess Leia over Tatooine. If you watch I-III first, you know how powerful Vader is, so why can’t he sense something unusual about Leia? Or the fact that Ben and Luke are somewhat nearby? And why doesn’t the movie acknowledge the weird coincidence of Vader showing up at his former homeworld?
Stuff like that pulls me out of the story, but mine is only one opinion. In what order do you like to watch the movies? Comment here or on Facebook to have your say!
Star Wars Fun Fact
Surprising or little known Star Wars tidbits, sometimes related to today’s Force Feature. One of the newer (2011) suggested orders of watching the movies is the “Machete Order” offered up by Rod Hilton, which suggests that you can watch IV-V-II-III-VI. That means you can skip I entirely, and you still get the emotional impact of the two trilogies. What do you think of that? Let us know, in the ways we mentioned above…

Today’s question: Who was Luke talking to when he said, “Then my father is truly dead”?

Ok I gave this alot of thought because I was showing my nieces the movies for the first time. I came up with this. Episode 1 because its the most kid friendly and follow that with 2, then go back to 4 and 5. That way the kids get the vader is his dad moment. Then 3 and finish with 6 for the happy ending. 124536 for short lol.

Hi Joe,
Thanks so much for chiming in! Did your nieces ask questions about the last name in common when Luke is introduced in A New Hope, or did that just go over their heads?

They did ask and I explained we were watching Anakin’s son. So it was actually a double wammy when they found out that Vader was Anakin. They were watching the whole time trying to figure out who Vader was and one of my nieces keep saying it was a really old Count dooku. The other one thought that it was Jar Jar (though everytime she said it she laughed lol)

Ahhh, yes, because you showed III after V, I get it. Nifty way of pulling it off!
