The whole basis of Luke Skywalker’s obsession with Vader is that Vader allegedly killed his father, and definitely killed his mentor. And this obsession is starting to get explored in the new books (Heir to the Jedi), and the comics, too! What do you think? Do you like seeing Luke and Vader interact even more? Or would you rather them not run into each other at all right now? Personally, I’m looking forward to these encounters in the new Expanded Universe, and I want to hear whether you, too, are waiting with bated breath.
Star Wars Fun Fact
Surprising or little known Star Wars tidbits, sometimes related to today’s Force Feature.Does Luke ever find out that it was Darth Vader trying to shoot him down in the Death Star trench? I’ve never read anything that suggests he knew, and I’m saying this knowing that Star Wars #2 is out, with a confrontation between Vader and Luke, and I haven’t read it yet, though I will be soon, before I record the next Expanded Comicverse Podcast with Tim McMahon later this month. So if Vader tells Luke that he was trying to shoot Luke down, let me know in the comments. 🙂

I wonder if the new cannon focus on Luke’s obsession has something to do with his character arc in the upcoming trilogy. I am assuming that whoever is overseeing the story arc of the new Marvel comic series is aware of the plot of episode 7.

Hey Craig, thanks for your comment! I really like your idea, and I think you could be on to something. Jordan White, the editor of the new Star Wars series, was on the Star Wars Minute Podcast a few weeks ago, and talked about going out to Skywalker Ranch for meetings during the development of the comic. I bet they talked about the sequel trilogy, too…
