Back when Captain Needa said, “No ship that small has a cloaking device!” about the Millennium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back, that’s about all we really knew about stealth tech in the Star Wars galaxy.
Later on, we would learn that Governor/Grand Moff Tarkin’s personal starship, the Carrion Spike, came equipped with straight-up cloaking tech. But it certainly wasn’t widely available, and (spoiler alert) the First Order destroyed the Carrion Spike in the Poe Dameron comic series. And with that went what may have been the best and most well-known example of stealth tech in the galaxy.
Thirty years later, it seems the galaxy hasn’t advanced very far in that field. On today’s podcast, we’re talking about what we’ve learned about stealth tech as a result of the events of The Last Jedi, with help from DK Publishing’s new Incredible Cross-Sections book. Big thanks, yet again, goes to DK Publishing for sending me a copy of the book to pore over in great detail, and then to bring the results of that to you on the podcast. Hope you enjoy today’s deep dive!
