How do we know? Check out the teaser from StarWars.com:
For J.J. Abrams, the Star Wars Celebration circle is now complete. StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that the director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens — who once attended Star Wars Celebration as a fan — is confirmed to appear at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim this April. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will kick off the show in a big way on Thursday morning, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. This will be a day long remembered.
A day long remembered, eh? So, here’s the scoop. This is the ONLY thing scheduled from 10-11 that day, and it’s being simulcast on four other stages in addition to the live Celebration Stage. Know who’s been noticeably absent from any appearance announcements? All the major new cast members – Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, et al. Other announcements about the Abrams/Kennedy set included “special guests.” So it’s GOTTA be the new kids on the block at least, right?
Also, let’s talk about the next trailer, shall we? Some rumors say it’ll be available when Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in May, but my money is on a first look for the fans at Celebration. And that we’ll see Original Trilogy characters for the first time.
The appearance of OT characters isn’t based on rumors about the trailer’s contents – though those do exist – but more to do with the fact that they’re going to have the exact audience in the room at Celebration that has been dying for a look at the OT characters in the new movie. The more I think about the fact that they didn’t show OT characters in the first teaser makes me think they knew what they were doing all along in holding Luke, Han, and Leia back until now.
So, what do YOU think will happen during the hour that Abrams and Kennedy are on the stage? What do you WANT to see happen? Have your say in the comments!
Star Wars Fun FactSurprising or little known Star Wars tidbits, sometimes related to today’s Force Feature.
Did you hear the news? Disney is selling Lucasfilm back to George Lucas! Turns out there was a clause in the contract that allowed Lucas to buy back the company if Disney didn’t make the new movies the way George wanted them to. It sure didn’t take long for him to pull the trigger on this one!
In other news, it’s April Fool’s Day here in the U.S., and that means you might be seeing all kinds of tomfoolery on the Internet today. So here’s a fair warning to you to take the stuff you see and hear about today with a grain of salt. Maybe a whole shaker-ful, in fact. 🙂
