Friday was a busy day at Star Wars Celebration! The big news was the reveal of the Star Wars Battlefront trailer, which also includes a visualization of the planet Sullust at the end.
Lots of great questions were answered and surprises revealed at the One Big Story panel, including:
- “Yes,” some former Expanded Universe characters will find their way into the new canon
- The current Old Republic game is non-canon, but doing new things from the Old Republic timeline and having be part of canon is an option on the table for the Story Group
- Marvel will be releasing a timeline for their comics (and I spoke with editor Justin White, who confirmed – yes, using that word consciously – that Heir to the Jedi takes place before the Star Wars and Darth Vader comics, but after the Princess Leia comic)
- DK’s upcoming Ultimate Star Wars will be their first new-canon book.
- Del Rey released Lords of the Sith early to attendees (it’s not available to the public for another couple of weeks)
- Del Rey also revealed the title of the Star Wars Battlefront book – Twilight Company – and included a first excerpt in its freebie materials for attendees
Saturday, Marvel and Del Rey get their own individual panels to go deeper into their corners of the new canon, and Rebels will have its Season Two Red Carpet Premiere! Check out StarWars.com to follow live blogs, livestreaming, and lots of in-between-panels fun at the Mos Eisley Cantina, where Verizon has set up shop to handle the livestream for fans (as well as the phone charging and the free custom iPhone cases)!
