  1. I will always use the phrase “a missed opportunity” when describing my feelings on the prequels.

That said, is it bad that Attack of the Clones is my favorite of the prequels? 🙂

You know, I enjoy Attack of the Clones a lot more than I think a lot of OT fans do. I really dig the vehicles in the movies, and the end battle where the ships are dropping off walkers, the Hailfire Droids are rolling around, the new Republic gunships are flying around…I thought that was a heck of a lot of fun.

But yeah… “missed opportunity” is a good way to think about it. Decent story arc and ideas, just not executed as well as the OT was.

Luke asked C-3PO if he could understand the Ewoks.

I like the PT. Anakin/Vader and Padme are my favorite characters.

Yeah, I saw the OT Special Editions first when I was probably 5 or 6. I remember liking ANH. I don’t recall liking ESB and ROTJ too much, but that’s okay. Then the TPM came out a year or two later. I don’t recall liking it too much, I appreciate TPM more now that older which is funny because many call TPM and the PT kiddie movies. Other ROTS, Star Wars has always been something of a kid thing.

AOTC and ROTS are my favorites. AOTC b/c I started becoming a Star Wars fan and paying attention to things. I finally figure out Sidious and Palpatine were the same person. (give me a break, I was kid). ROTS was the first Star Wars movie I had seen in theaters.

The thing is that the PT was never going to turn out the way people imagined or expected them too. I suspect it’s going to be the same way with TFA and the rest of the future Star Wars movies. Many are already complaining and we got 5 1/2 months to go.

Also I suspect people are going to be a lot nicer to the PT and Lucas by the time Disney is done with Star Wars. It’s going to be like Star Trek all over again. They’ll milk the franchise to death, wait a few years, and it will be time for a reboot. I mean I hope not, but let’s face it, we know Disney.

Thank you so much for the comment! This part:

“The thing is that the PT was never going to turn out the way people imagined or expected them too. I suspect it’s going to be the same way with TFA and the rest of the future Star Wars movies. Many are already complaining and we got 5 1/2 months to go.”

I think you’re dead-on correct about. It’s how I felt after I first saw The Phantom Menace, but over time I got over my nonsense and started to look at it for what it was, not for what I wanted it to be. And I like it a lot better as a result. I still have problems with it, but not so much as to decide I can’t ever watch it again, or be disappointed when it shows up on a TV someplace.

Of the three PT movies, there are some days where I could call AOTC my favorite, because the action in it is so much fun. But it’s hard to be ROTS overall…
