So this popped into my head after thinking a bit about the Star Wars Ring Theory that got mentioned by Chris Pirillo in yesterday’s episode. At it occurred to me that Lucas had been planning nine movies, not six, originally. So if the Ring Theory is true, then we ought to seen many similarities between The Force Awakens and a couple of the other Star Wars movies.
What jumped out at me first was this scene from the San Diego Comic-Con “Behind the Scenes” reel:
And how much it reminded me of this scene from A New Hope:
Now, that rests on one big (but I think safe) assumption, which is that it’s Finn in his Stormtrooper armor leading Poe Dameron through the corridors in The Force Awakens.
So here we have a hero who is in a Stormtrooper disguise, rescuing another hero from what appears to be a detention area in an Imperial facility. Sound familiar? Yes, Boyega was actually a Stormtrooper and Han and Luke weren’t, but you get the idea.
There’s even more similarities when you look at the Jakku sequences… more on that tomorrow!
