Can’t contain your excitement for Star Wars: Bloodline coming out next week? Well, tide yourself over with the latest issue of Star Wars Insider magazine!
You know there’s been new fiction published in that magazine for a while now, right? Well, it turns out that in issue #165 (on newsstands now!), the short story of the month is “Scorched” by Delilah Dawson (of The Perfect Weapon fame), and it’s a bit of a prequel to Bloodline.
Specifically, it shares an incident in the past of Greer Sonnel, whom Jen Weddle from Lucasfilm flags as Leia’s personal assistant in Bloodline. Well, before that, she was a hotshot pilot, participating in a race called the Gauntlet, which is sponsored by none other than Han Solo himself. The Gauntlet is also a race that helps identify talent to be recruited for a far more prestigious race – the Five Sabers.
I read Bloodline before I read “Scorched,” and I will say that a significant something you learn about Greer in Bloodline is hinted at pretty strongly in “Scorched.” Though I wouldn’t say the plot of Bloodline at all turns on that thing, so feel free to read “Scorched” with the knowledge that the meat of Bloodline will all be left intact for you when you read it next week.
