These days, if you want to read authoritative reporting about Star Wars franchise, the guy you want to watch is Anthony Breznican. He’s a senior writer for Entertainment Weekly, most recently having pulled together the big Rogue One cover feature that we’ve been talking about on the podcast for the last few days.
He’s also been out from behind his computer and onto the stage at various events, leading panel discussions and conducting interviews – including, of course, the panel covering The Force Awakens that kicked off Star Wars Celebration Anaheim last year.
With all that’s happened (read: the reshoots story) and all that’s coming up (read: Celebration Europe), I reached out to Anthony and he graciously agreed to talk about those two topics, as well as a host of others – some planned, so not-so-planned – during a transatlantic conversation, with me in Ireland and him on the west coast of the US.
Today we’re sharing part one of the two part interview, and it’s an extended episode even at that. Here’s hoping you enjoy it! And here are places to check out Anthony and his work:
Non-Star-Wars-related: His studio tour with Steven Spielberg
Also: Last Night A Superhero Saved My Life, the collection of essays in with a piece by Anthony appears, along with essays by Jodi Picoult, Brad Meltzer, Neil Gaiman, and others
