For Star Wars, 2016 is ending on a high note, and I’m not just talking about Rogue One. The definitive, authoritative biography of George Lucas has hit bookshelves this week, and the publisher was kind enough to send me two copies of the hardcover edition. I’m only keeping one – more on that later.
George Lucas: A Life, by Brian Jay Jones, is an unauthorized biography of Lucas, but don’t let the “unauthorized” tag give you a bad vibe. This is an extraordinarily detailed masterwork, one which paints the most complete picture of Lucas’ background, career, and personal life that we’ll ever see in our lifetimes.
It was a thrill to talk with Brian, and the first half of our conversation is featured in today’s bonus-length podcast. And if you want to hear even more from Brian after this and tomorrow’s episode, check out his appearance on another Star Wars podcast, the estimable Coffee With Kenobi.
As for Brian himself, he’s most active on Twitter, but do give his Facebook page a like, and check out his website/blog, too.
Meanwhile, about that book giveaway … I’m got a Facebook post embedded below (if for some reason you can’t see it, go here). The rules are simple – leave a comment on that post about something in the interview you liked enjoyed. Then share it with your friends, because the person whose comment gets the most likes/comments/etc. on their comment wins the book. This runs through Tuesday, 12/13 at 9am EST, and is open to our U.S. listeners only. Good luck!
