This isn’t the podcast I expected to be making today. The embargo on reviews for Rogue One was lifted yesterday, and I fully expected to be digging into that.
And I do, to a degree, on today’s podcast. But really, it’s about Buddy today. That’s him about three months ago, taking a snooze while the kids were at school. Today, we had to say goodbye and have him put down. The vet, thinking he was just going to be pulling two bad teeth, found out that Buddy had an oral tumor – the swelling around the teeth was not what we thought it was. So we went from thinking we were dropping our 13-year-old dog off for a dental procedure in the morning, to having to make a horrible decision three hours later.
He doesn’t have it on in this pic, but I had an R2-D2 bandana for his collar – I know he’s not named after a Star Wars character, but I added little touches where I could (like the Darth Vader water bowl and the Chewbacca food bowl).
Anyway, the point of me telling you all of this is that I have a humble request. Please consider taking a moment out of your day to be grateful. We’re about to enter a new age of Star Wars storytelling, when we used to have to wait three years between movies, and 10 years or more between trilogies. Now, we’re about to get them every year, and there are a ton of hardworking, talented people working to pull this off. Even if it’s just silently, please utter a note of thanks to the Universe for allowing us fans to be living in such a vibrant time. Don’t take it for granted. And take a moment for your loved ones, too, will you?
Thanks, and may the Force be with you.
