In today’s podcast, I’m reviewing that piece of information and what people are speculating about it, and then sharing bits of three interviews:
1. Mark Hamill interviewed by AP not long after the title was revealed. He makes a brief and half-cut-off samurai allusion, which is intriguing.
2. Laura Dern in her as-yet-unspecified role, talking about women in the film being conscious of their power and their iconic status. This might suggest a level of prominence and power related to Fisher’s and Dern’s characters.
3. Mark Hamill again, being re-introduced to his actual lightsaber prop from Return of the Jedi. I thought this was interesting because we don’t yet know if Luke still has his lightsaber from 30 years ago, and if he doesn’t, did he make a new one? Or does he not want/need/use a lightsaber anymore? It kind of looks like there’s something lightsaber-ish on his belt at the end of The Force Awakens, but if that’s the butt-end of a lightsaber, it sure doesn’t look like the one he used to have.
All of this is discussed on today’s podcast. Got thoughts to share about any or all of the topics? Have your say in the comments!
