I’ve been considering this for a while, and Scorekeeper Declan validated my thinking on it, even though it doesn’t quite feel like it holds up on the final analysis.
Initially inspired by this article and multiple viewings of Rogue One, I started feeling like there was a video game quality to the movie. When I asked Scorekeeper Declan what he thought about it, he pretty much immediately replied that yes, it was video-game-like. When I asked him why, he said it was because of all the objectives the heroes have to achieve. And then he gave me a couple of comparisons to other video games to reinforce the point. Which was pretty impressive.
I’m exploring this further in the podcast today, and would love to hear from you. Did Rogue One strike you at all as video-game-like? Share your thoughts in the comments!
