Long story short – and I’m saying that because this is a bonus-length podcast (and tomorrow’s will be, too) – I’d been looking for a good reason to bring Bobby Roberts back as a guest on the podcast, and a question I got from a friend of mine gave me the inspiration for it.
Basically, the question was this: Why should I care about this new movie coming out, when I don’t care about any of these people, and it has nothing to do with the Skywalkers?
Now, this friend is what you would call a casual fan, and so when I explained the gist of the movie, he went from disinterested to being open to the idea of it. But it got me thinking about the choices Lucasfilm will have to make with the “Story” movies, and whether for the first few, if Lucasfilm will stick to events that can be easily tied to the existing “Saga” movies. As in, “Remember X in that one ‘Saga’ movie? The new ‘Story’ movie explains the backstory of it.”
So I asked Bobby – Podcaster Emeritus from Full of Sith, and now “Podcast Force Ghost at Large” appearing as a guest on multiple Star Wars podcasts this year – to rejoin me for a conversation about the franchise, the Story movies, and what else is in store for fans in the coming years.
Our conversation lasted something like an hour and twenty minutes, so I’ve split it up into two segments. Hope you enjoy the conversation, and check back for the second half tomorrow!
