In today’s episode, we’re looking back at the history of the script development of The Force Awakens, in light of George Lucas’ recent revelation that the Star Wars movies J.J. Abrams and company are making are not “his” [Lucas’] movies.

Between this bombshell and Harrison Ford’s injury, I am almost as excited for the “Making Of” book as I am for the movie! – I hope J.W.Rinzler is already hard at work on it!

Tim, I think you’re right, it’ll make for a really fascinating book. There’s so much that’s brand new happening (I think!), and even though they’ve got some mainstays, like John Williams and Ben Burtt, I don’t get the sense that the crew is largely made up of the same gang that put on the prequels. There’s a bunch of institutional knowledge that just isn’t available to them on a day-to-day basis. So hearing the story of how they built it back up from comparative scratch should make for a compelling read.
