The big news highlights from Star Wars Celebration Orlando didn’t come from the main event of the day – the 40th Anniversary Panel. Instead, they came from “Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates,” the panel on the Galaxy Stage later that day.
Not only did it feature Clone Wars and Rebels Executive Producer Dave Filoni, it also featured the Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo, and news about Star Wars Rebels season four. Specifically, we found out that we’ll see Rex again, as well as Wolff and Gregor (two other clones from whom we haven’t heard in a while). Rex will also be getting a camouflage costume, which evokes memories of the SpecForce Pathfinders that invaded Endor in secret along with Leia, Luke, and Han as part of the strike team. In fact, many fans support the theory that one of the Pathfinders from Endor may, in fact, be Rex. What happened in the Filoni/Hidalgo panel seemed to support that theory.
But of course, the meat of the conversation centered around Ahsoka. You may have read write-ups claiming to say definitively that she’s 100% coming back in season 4, but Filoni and Hidalgo said nothing of the kind in the panel. In fact, they were very careful to avoid saying anything outright. I think she certainly could be, and Pablo pointed out that because of their production schedule, season 3 had already been scripted and was in the works by the time season 2 ended.
Which leads us to the first available spot to bring Ahsoka back to Rebels: season 4.
Listen to the podcast to hear how Pablo goads Dave into saying something, anything about it; and I’ll also cover the other bit of news, about Star Wars: Forces of Destiny!
