It’s time for round two of my series of looks at Ken Liu’s new book, The Legends of Luke Skywalker. In today’s installment, about “The Starship Graveyard,” we have the one story in which Luke Skywalker seems most definitely NOT to appear. Physically, that is. In wanted-poster-style hologram, yes; as a godlike delusion in the fever dreams of an injured Imperial officer, yes; but beyond that, no.
The story takes place during and after the Battle of Jakku, and it also connects with Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath: Empire’s End. We get to see what’s left of the Observatory after Rae Sloane and Brendol Hux abandon it along with a bunch of Jakku children in the Emperor’s yacht for the Unknown Regions.
And yet, there is a hint that is supposed to make us stop for a second and wonder … which I’ll be getting into in the podcast today!
