No spoilers in this post, but it’s a full-spoiler discussion in the podcast, where I’m digging into the long-awaited reveal of Rey’s parents.
Or is it?
There’s something about it (okay, a couple of somethings) that just don’t sit right with me. Not that I have a problem with the answer – I think it’s a good one, and I dig it. What I mean to say without saying is that, there’s other evidence from the novella Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka, and from The Force Awakens itself, that cast some doubts on how the story and identity of Rey’s parentage were depicted.
It’s not presented in an equivocal way, but with the whole “from a certain point of view” track record on big reveals, I think this one allows for some wiggle room in the interpretation.
What did you think of it? You can go whole-hog on spoilers in the comments – I’m presuming you can’t have formed an opinion about it unless you’ve watched it already… 🙂
