“Tumultuous” would be a fair word for the world of Lucasfilm in 2017. The departure of Lord and Miller from Solo: A Star Wars Story, the departure of Colin Trevorrow and company from Episode IX, the foofaraw from a segment of people over The Last Jedi, and the microtransaction melee prior to the release of Star Wars Battlefront II all made for more dramatic headlines than Lucasfilm is used to in a given year.
They also had one movie finish its run as the 7th biggest domestic movie of all time, another gearing up to beat that total, and a surprisingly low-key announcement of a new trilogy to come. Just to name a few successes. I’ve got the round-up of the year for you in today’s podcast!
