All right, first off – have you seen it? A 16-second teaser for The Force Awakens, shared on their Twitter account on Sunday:
The Resistance gathers tomorrow. Watch @ESPN’s Monday Night Football for a new look at #TheForceAwakens.

Note that Poe is getting out of his black X-wing fighter, which is odd considering that there are Resistance pilots running and getting their helmets on. We can also see the Millennium Falcon off in the distance behind Finn, and this appears to be a shot from the outdoor Greenham Common set, where there had previously been leaked drone images showing the Falcon and the Black Squadron X-wing on the ground.
There’s also this little video, which has new glimpses of Poe and Rey (BB-8 is shown from the second teaser, Kylo Ren from the first, and Finn, from the other new 16-second teaser above:

Okay, now for the poster:

First off, definitely NOT the version that was tweeted out on ESPN Caribbean on Saturday. 🙂
Second, here are some of the notable things about it:
1. No Luke Skywalker. Where, exactly, is he??? Why wouldn’t he be included in the official theatrical poster? There are rumors and spoilers out there that may be relevant to that question, which I’d just as soon not get into here in the public space. But it’s very disconcerting to have this poster without him present in it.
2. Starkiller Base. We’ve heard from the StarWars.com Databank that Starkiller Base houses a weapon that can destroy entire star systems. It sure looks like that’s what we’re seeing in the top right of the poster.
3. Finn in another lightsaber pose. The poster is set up as being a reflection of “the dark side…and the light.” That certainly suggests that Finn is a Force-sensitive person in this, but is he a Skywalker? It is a Skywalker Saga movie after all, so who is/are the Skywalkers in this poster?
4. New character. On Artoo’s right (our left), there’s a new character to whom we haven’t been introduced formally. Based on action figure and LEGO stuff, it looks like it might be Goss Toowers, listed in the Star Wars Databank as a Resistance mechanic. But I’m not totally convinced it’s him, so if you have any conflicting opinions, chime in with a comment below.
Finally, ticket information is available! As of publication time (10/19 at 3:00am ET), tickets aren’t on sale yet, and there hasn’t been a formal announcement of when on 10/19 they will go on sale. Please sign up for a ticket sales alert here! And please check out the official Star Wars blog post for information on special events happening around the release of The Force Awakens at various movie chains in the US and Canada.
Also, yes, the Star Wars Marathon is happened for reals, and there’s a list of theaters that’ll have it going on. Way more than had the first trailer, for sure – you’re bound to find one within a reasonable distance. 🙂

I like how in the original trilogy of Star Wars has this great big death star the size of a moon, then making these new films they think “We can’t do that again and make a death star 3, you know what? How bout we make an entire plant a weapon? It’ll destroy star systems because blowing up planets isn’t quite enough power!” Well now we instead of: “That’s no moon!” we can say “That’s no planet!” 😛 I love these movies! The Trailer is way more awesome than I could have expected!
Also I’m trying to not even make guesses about who the Skywalker might be now. I really want a good surprise! 😀
Thanks for always doing such a great job on this podcast!

Thank you, Rob! And now that you’ve (presumably) seen the movie, what did you think? Did it live up to your expectations?
