Thanks to the millions of folks watching The Force Awakens trailer online, there are a few extra tidbits to share with you that we didn’t cover in our bonus extended episode with The Force Awakens trailer breakdown! Namely:
1. Han’s a believer. The guy who once referred to the Force as a hokey religion is now singing a different tune. What happened in the past 30 years to make him do this 180-degree turn?
2. The Starkiller Base trench. I commented on it yesterday briefly, but I’m revisiting it because it’s another visual link to Star Wars, echoing the Death Star trench. Hmmm…another Ring Theory coincidence?
3. Mandalore, Mandalore! If you look closely at the flags outside Maz Kanata’s castle, you’ll see a Mandalorian symbol on one of them. Easter egg!
4. The AT-AT foot. In the shot of the transport ship taking off from Jakku, that Rey looks at so wistfully, you can see a toe in the foreground of the shot that is clearly from the foot of an Imperial Walker. Wow!
5. More missing in action. Max von Sydow is listed as an actor on the movie poster, but doesn’t appear on the poster or in the trailer. Hmmm again…
6. Tree victims of Starkiler weapon? That quick shot of tree getting thrashed right after we see Kylo torturing Poe? Folks are theorizing that’s the Starkiller weapon in action.
7. Behind the lens flare. /Film enhanced a still frame of the scene with Kylo looking out the windows at a giant red lens flare. It looks like there’s a structure outside the window, which /Film suggests means Kylo is at an observation point on Starkiller Base in that scene, watching the weapon charge up.
Okay, now it’s your turn. What little nuances did YOU see in the trailer? Share them in the comments!

This was such a great trailer! And i’m glad that it didn’t seem to give away too much story at all. Amidst all the new visuals and excitement though, I couldn’t help but wonder (and slightly worry!) about all the mirroring aspects of the trailer that go back to A NEW HOPE (i.e: Poe Dameron/Kylo Ren torture scene, and possibly Poe’s home Endor being destroyed? as this mirrors Leia’s Alderan being destroyed in ANH).
I understand that TFA is a “Star Wars” movie that has to have some echoing to the previous stories for sake of outfitting the film, but let’s go back to the beginning for a bit. Think about it, when George Lucas made SW, the core strength of the story is in the Originality, and outright NEW and NEVER BEFORE SEEN concepts in a Sci-fi film (droids having a conscious mind, and their communicating with humans, and vice versa). Now I of course haven’t seen the new film yet, and don’t at all mean any disrespect towards the powers that be in making it, however it does slightly worry me that in seeing all the harking back to the originals being done, I hope that they haven’t forgotten to present or even attempt to introduce something TOTALLY NEW! which is what the core and spirit of Lucas’s vision truly is. Fingers crossed! …and great job on the trailer coverage.

Thanks for your comments, Eddie! Seems you were rather prescient – there are a LOT of OT echoes in the new movie, and I definitely wonder how Lucas’ vision was different. I fear we’re never going to find out…
