Episode 623: Star Wars News Bits and Bites

On a mellow post-St. Patrick’s Day, we’re relaxing with a couple of news items that weren’t big enough to warrant an entire podcast by themselves, but we thought you’d still be interested in.

First up is a non-Star Wars related item, but how can you not be interested in Indiana Jones? Disney just made it official: Dr. Jones is coming back for another go-around. July 19, 2019 is the big day, and the “as-yet-untitled” movie is also getting Steven Speilberg as a director once more. Sure, Harrison’s going to be old in it, but he did “old” pretty darned well in The Force Awakens, didn’t he? I don’t think he can do Crystal Skull-level stunts anymore (and even those strained credulity for a 60+ year-old), but I think they’re smart enough to set up a story that doesn’t require it in the first place.

The other item has to do with the search for the young Han Solo. The Hollywood Reporter, citing multiple sources, claims the shortlist is down to three actors: Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, and Taron Egerton. Check out that link and look at the photos and tell me – which do you think most looks like a your Harrison Ford? Not that the superficiality of that question is the only reason to choose between the three, but let’s have a little fun.

Personally, Taron looks a little too innocent in his charm, and Alden looks more like a young Oscar Isaac (funny, considering that Oscar isn’t exactly old himself). For my money, Jack Reynor looks the part more than the other two. How about you? Which would you pick?
