Welcome to the start of Season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Today’s Clone Wars Briefing focuses on “Holocron Heist,” episode #1 of Season 2.
In it, the very Clint-Eastwood-Man-With-No-Name-styled bounty hunter Cad Bane is now working for Darth Sidious (whom Bane does realize is a Sith Lord for which he’s working – and shockingly seems to have no issue with that). Sidious wants Bane to steal a Jedi Holocron, which, now that the old Expanded Universe is gone, becomes the first chronological mention of holocrons, as far as I know.
Bane gets a changeling to help (pictured above, thanks to Wookieepedia), and said changeling gets caught by Ahsoka Tano. Wow, changelings in the Star Wars universe aren’t very good at actually changing, it seems! But we get a fleeting moment of the changeling adopting the body of Jedi Librarian Jocasta Nu, and “Nu” has to fight Ahsoka. It may be the closest we ever get to see the Jedi Librarian throw down in battle, but it was worth it.
Meanwhile, despite thinking that they’re “smarter than this” in Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan and Anakin fly down multiple dead ends trying to catch Bane, who makes it look all too easy to fool the Jedi and sneak out with the holocron.
Well, what did YOU think? Love it, hate it, meh? Share your thoughts in the comments!
