This is the one that was meaty enough to warrant its own podcast. “Master and Apprentice,” the eighth story in From a Certain Point of View, was written by Claudia Gray (she of Lost Stars, Bloodline, and Leia: Princess of Alderaan fame), and she’s been tasked with the story for the biggest-name character so far: Qui-Gon Jinn.
He’s been dead since The Phantom Menace, and it’s taken him nearly a decade how to work out this whole Force ghost business, but he has. Obi-Wan calls on him when Luke races away to his homestead, in the aftermath of their Jawa massacre discovery. Their conversation is nuanced and beautiful and the depictions of how Qui-Gon experiences the living Force, his separation from it to converse with Obi-Wan, and his experience of the corporeal world are fascinating. That’s what’s I’m digging into in the podcast today!
