“This.”
That, according to J.J. Abrams, is the first word spoken in The Force Awakens. That’s kind of a fun reveal, I’d say! And it’s all we got in the Jimmy Kimmel special Star Wars edition of his late-night talk show. Adam Driver was asked whether he wears the Kylo Ren helment throughout the movie, and said he wasn’t sure if he could answer that. But the photo from Vanity Fair earlier this year shows him without it…is it possible that image is not part of the final cut of the movie, I wonder?
They played a clip as well, but it was the same clip shown at the AMAs the previous night. So, no new surprises.
Meanwhile, Carrie Fisher joked that the end of the movie involves nudity and lightsabers being used for some other purpose. Amy Schumer has her moments, but for my money, Carrie is incredibly funnier and more devastating.
And hey, I mentioned I’d post something about the opening crawl – this was the rumored one. But the fact is, that copy would have gone through licensing approval with Lucasfilm, and it would have to have been written by people with no knowledge of the movie other than what’s been made public. So there’s very little chance that it’s the actual opening crawl.
It seems strange, though, that we haven’t gotten a crawl reveal, even though we got them with the prequel movies. At this late date, I don’t think we’re going to get it at all.
