“Excited” is hardly the word that Threepio would use, but this is a rather exciting and surprising announcement. Lucasfilm partnered with the immensely talented producer Rick Rubin and a bunch of EDM (electronic dance music) artists to bring us all Star Wars Headspace, an ambitious new musical project that re-works some of your favorite Star Wars music, along with sampled dialogue and sounds from the movies, to create something unique and very club-tastic.
The website has the full 15-track listing, as well as four songs available for your listening pleasure right now (the full album releases on February 18). Kindly, though, the folks at Star Wars Headspace made the tracks easily embeddable, so you can listen to them right here!
First up is “Cantina Boys” by Baauer (yes, the “Harlem Shake” Baauer):
Next is “NR-G7” by the master himself, Rick Rubin:
Then we have “R2 Where R U?” by Flying Lotus:
And finally, the one we didn’t cover in today’s podcast, “Help Me!” by GTA:
What do you think? Is this an album you’re going to jump on right away? Let us know in the comments!
